The TranzAlpine runs 223 km from Christchurch to Greymouth, New Zealand, crossing the South Island’s Canterbury Plains, Southern Alps, and West Coast rainforests. It takes about 5 hours, with a key stop at Arthur’s Pass. The route features 16 tunnels, 4 viaducts, and stunning views of snow-capped peaks, gorges, and braided rivers like the Waimakariri.
